DCFS Spends Thousands on State Fair Booth (Illinois Review & Illinois Policy Institute)

According to a FOIA request to DCFS, taxpayers spent $4547.02 on materials for the tent at the fair, including:
  • $800 for tent rental
  • $325 for popcorn
  • $1,065 for tables, chairs and carpeting
  • $930 for car rental
  • $663.72 for ink and paper
This is a disgusting disregard for the taxpayer.  They also gave away FRISBEES!

But what is worse is the other state departments that had elaborate expensive taxpayer-funded booths at the fair, with the knowledge that the Illinois state fair has lost #43 million of our hard-earned dollars since 1993.
